I got this from a rep of the DVC computer club:
"Hello students. I would like to invite your for the Bit's N' Bytes club. We are a community of DVC students who get together every week to discuss about technology, chat and apply what we learn in real projects. There are some projects for this semester already confirmed, and they are: ?Space Balloon? to take pictures of the earth?s curvature, soldering classes and competitive programming practice. Android development and web design are also being pondered. We will have monthly events, such as playing Paintball and hosting a Lan Party. Please come to our first official meeting this Wednesday (February 15th) from 5:00 ? 6:30 PM in ATC 115. During this meeting we?ll be giving more details about the club and how you can participate. For more information access our website and join our Google Group to keep updated on the upcoming events: http://bitsnbytesclub.com.
"Thanks for your attention, Arthur Bayerlein."

The STARTING POINT MENTORSHIP PROGRAM provides current California community college students with a UC Berkeley student mentor enrolled in this course. The program is specifically designed to encourage under-served students (older returning students, first-generation college students, students combining school and parenting, students from low-income backgrounds, veterans, disabled students, underrepresented groups, etc.) to explore their academic potential and prepare for transfer to UC Berkeley. Mentors provide students with information, motivation, and access to resources. Both the mentee and mentor are responsible in communicating weekly with one another throughout the semester to discuss goals, services, opportunities, and resources.
Email Prof Burns to receive an application form in a reply. The deadline is March 9th.

Five new "certificates of achievement" in computer science are now available. Click one below to complete and print an application form. They are 12 units each:
- Advanced Java programming: COMSC 110, 255, and 256
- Mobile and Enterprise Java programming: COMSC 110, 255, and 257
- Program design: COMSC 110, 265, and 210
- Computer architecture: COMSC 110, 265, and 260
- Advanced C++ programming: COMSC 110, 265, and 266
It is possible to substitute other college credit for the first and/or second course in each sequence, as long as you complete the last course. It is also possible to get multiple certificates, double-counting common courses like 110, 255, and 265.
Note: In-progress students can apply for the certificates now. No need to wait for completion of the last course in a sequence. So current COMSC 210, 256, 260, and 266 students are encouraged to apply now. A grade of C or higher is required in each required course. These state-approved certificates will appear on student transcripts.
Deliver your completed and signed form to the Admissions and Records Office.
